We advise individuals and families on planning for the future and administering estates after a death. We also represent clients in disputes involving wills, trusts, estate property, and the conduct of executors, trustees, and other fiduciaries.
Estate planning and administration
Our planning work includes wills and powers of attorney, informed by the client’s family circumstances, property, and wishes. We review existing documents as those circumstances change.
In estate administration, we assist with probate filings, estate property, and court proceedings. Where an estate includes real property or a business interest, we also address the related real estate and corporate work.
Trust and estate litigation
We handle disputes over the interpretation and administration of estate and trust documents, the ownership of property, and questioned transactions. These matters may require examination of financial records, distributions, transfers, and the decisions made by those managing the property.
Our representation includes negotiations, contested court proceedings, and related appellate work.
Selected trust litigation
Matthews v. LaPenna
Allen Dodd represented beneficiaries in a three-week bench trial concerning the construction and administration of a trust estate encompassing approximately 12,000 acres.
Preparing for a consultation
For planning, bring any existing will or power of attorney and a general description of your property and family circumstances. For an estate or trust dispute, any governing documents, court papers, and account records already available may be helpful.
